Gnote does not work on Mandriva 2010.1

Postby michael » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:57 am

Hi,

just to keep you informed:

[michael@localhost Desktop]$ ./Gnote\ 0.5.2
gnote: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkspell.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

The same problem I got on Slitaz-cooking as well.

On Mandriva 2010.2 it runs, but with one error message:

[user@localhost Desktop]$ ./Gnote\ 0.5.2

(gnote:24714): libtomboy-WARNING **: Binding '<Alt>F12' failed!

(gnote:24714): libtomboy-WARNING **: Binding '<Alt>F11' failed!

Hopefully such feedback is a help for you.

It does work on Mandriva 2010.2 after installing quite a bunch of dependencies. That means for me: this build is not - good enough prepared? Or this judgement wrong?
I mean: to realize the concept the App should have all the necessary dependencies ,,in itself". Did I misunderstand something?

Hi Michael, the AppImage should contain the dependencies that are not part of the base system. This brings us to the question what the "base system" is. Currently it is defined as "Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) 32-bit, OpenSUSE 11.3 (GNOME) 32-bit , and Fedora 12 (GNOME) 32-bit, and later".
If you like PortableLinuxApps and the AppImage format, you might consider a donation --> Image
