Hello there

Postby SalineOS » Fri Apr 29, 2011 4:28 am

My name is Anthony Nordquist, I run the SalineOS project at http://www.salineos.com. Currently trying to get the AppDir/AppAssistant stuff running on SalineOS. A Debian Stable based distro who's update scripts pull in select backports after being tested for stability. I am going to try and dig up the source package here on the forums and see if compiling it will get it all running. I generally like new Linux based technologies and AppImages look like a promising project. Just thought I would say hi :)

Just was trying this on the latest version of the SalineOS live CD. It looks like the default user has no rights to access /dev/fuse, why SalineOS can't run AppImages out of the box.

After doing a
sudo chmod 777 /dev/fuse
everything works as intended.

I guess, if your reading this, you are most likely a fellow linux enthusiast. In fact, I consider everyone here to be "above average". It's a honor to surrounded by such fine minds. I look forward to learning from you folks. Peace.

My hello to everyone.

I'd like to contribute some effort to this project as I have found it very useful.
IMO, most apps are a bit outdated, and given that I have 4G RAM and plenty of disk space, I think I can help compile packages / create some apps :)

I'll be heading to the AppImage Howto soon!

To probono, *thanks* for a great set of programs.

Hello enthunoob, did you succeed in making your own AppImages? Anything I could help with?
